Jyotish – Vedic Astrology
The home of Vedic astrology is India. Jyotish is been practiced for thousands of years. The term Jyotish is rooted in the Sanskrit word jyotisha, which can be translated as light.
Vedic astrology belongs to the six auxiliary disciplines connected with the study of the Vedas, the vedangas. The vedangas are of crucial importance for the comprehension and transmission of the Vedas. Jyotish is also a tool for the determination of the appropriate time for various religious rituals.
Vedic astrology consists of six branches – gola (observational astronomy), ganita (astronomical and astrological calculations), jataka (natal astrology), prashna (horary astroloy), muhurta (electional astrology) und nimitta (omens).
The Jyotishi, the Vedic astrologer, does not only read natal horosocopes. He is a counselor for many areas of life – education, career, relationships, marriage and health. He determines an auspicious time for significant tasks. Furthermore he can help you to find an answer for any particular question.
